NTHU has recently established Dual Master, Dual PhD, and Joint Program with Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, India. For more details on our partner universities, please refer to the List of Sister Universities and Dual Degree Program.

1. Qualification: For NTHU, Candidates must have completed a relevant Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree or enroll through the direct admission to the Master’s / Doctoral Program at NTHU. For IIT Roorkee, Candidates must fulfill the eligibility criteria for the Master’s Degree as per requirement.
- NTHU MA：Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Department of Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management
- IITR MA：Department of Electronics & Communications Engineering, Department of Physics
- NTHU PhD：College of Semiconductor Research, Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Department of Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management
- IITR PhD：Department of Electronics & Communications Engineering, Department of Physics

2. Application: The student shall fulfill the admission criteria of both institutions and follow the formal admission procedures of both institutions. An Individual Candidate Agreement must be signed as a requirement of the application.
3. Training: The student who has already taken and passed courses and obtained credits in his/her home institution may apply for credit transfer.
4. Credit Transfer: The student shall follow the regulations of both institutions regarding the suggested courses to be taken and credit transfer.
5. Fees: At the Host institution, a registration fee (for application) will be charged but the tuition fee is waived.
6. Diploma: Two separate degree certificates shall be awarded for the one degree by the respective partner institutions with their respective protocols/styles.
7. Duration of Studies:
(1). Dual Master’s Degree Program: The Candidate whose Home Institution is IIT Roorkee is expected to spend at least two semesters at IIT Roorkee. And the Candidate whose Home Institution is NTHU is expected to spend at least twosemesters at NTHU.
(2). Dual Doctoral Degree Program: The Candidate whose Home Institution is IIT Roorkee is required to take classes and conduct research for at least four semesters at IIT Roorkee. And the Candidate whose Home Institution is NTHU is expected to spend at least four semesters at NTHU.
8. Thesis: The thesis shall be written in English. The (public and private) defence of the doctoral thesis (irrespective of the location where this will take place) shall take place in English.
9. Expiration date of the Agreement: Permanent. Agreement may be terminated by either of the Institutions with a prior notice of ninety (90) days before the end of the respective academic year.

(2). There is another "Joint Program" without diploma. Please contact NTHU or IITR office.
