Eligibility Information
Since the second semester of the 2009 academic year, National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) has implemented a semester-based exchange program with universities in Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau. Details are outlined as follows.
1. Administrative Procedure:
Student selection is conducted once per semester. The Office of Global Affairs (OGA) is responsible for announcing the application information, collecting nominations from departments and colleges, convening the review committee, announcing placement results, nominating selected students to partner universities (according to each university’s application schedule), forwarding admission notices, organizing pre-departure briefings (depending on the number of participants), maintaining exchange student status, issuing scholarships, and collecting exchange reports.
2. Student Application Procedure:
(1) Application Submission (Students→ Department → College → Office of Global Affairs)
Applicants should follow the application timeline announced each semester, as well as the submission deadlines set by their department or college. Application materials must be submitted to the applicant’s department for initial review, then forwarded to the college for recommendation. Final placement results will be announced after the university-wide review meeting.
*Applicants intending to apply to universities in Hong Kong are often required to submit proof of English proficiency and are advised to prepare in advance.
(2) Submission to Host Universities
Students who are placed must prepare the required documents according to the instructions provided by the program coordinator and submit or mail the documents to the designated contact within the specified deadline for unified submission to the host universities.
(3) Pre-departure Briefing
A pre-departure briefing may be held depending on the number of participants. Admitted students are required to attend and cooperate with related arrangements.
3. Application Timeline: Application timelines are calculated based on the academic year prior to the intended exchange semester. For example:
- Exchange during February–June (Spring Semester) of year (X) requires application during July–August of year (X−1).
- Exchange during September–January (Fall Semester) of year (N) requires application during December of year (N−1) to January of year (N).
