【Information】Opening Soon: Internships in Canada as an Undergraduate from Taiwan via Mitacs Globalink Research Internship (GRI) Program
In the meantime, we would like to bring to your attention that the Mitacs 2024 Globalink Research Internship (GRI) student call will be opening in mid-August 2023. Senior undergraduates are encouraged to apply! Please broadcast this message to senior undergraduates at your institution.
Mitacs (https://www.mitacs.ca/en) is a Canadian national not-for-profit organization funded by Canadian federal and provincial governments to drive research innovation and to facilitate mobility of research internships across borders.
Successful applicants will travel to Canada between May and October 2024 to work with outstanding faculty and researchers at their host universities — and conduct hands-on research in their field of study!
Overview of GRI cycle and important dates

April to June 2023 |
Faculty application: Faculty submit research projects to Mitacs. Project proposals are due June 8, 2023 by 1 p.m. PT for 2024 Globalink Research Internships. |

July to August 2023 |
Faculty application vetting: Projects are reviewed by Mitacs and decisions communicated to professors. All successful projects are made available to student applicants in an online database. |

August to September 2023 |
Student application: International students submit applications and select research projects from the online database. |
|
October 2023 |
Student application vetting: Mitacs conducts an eligibility review of student applications. |
|
November 2023 to January 2024 |
Matching: Mitacs provides professors with a shortlist of student candidates for their project. Professors are then asked to review student applications, conduct interviews and then rank the applicants in order of suitability. Mitacs collects student and professor rankings, then finalizes offers to students. Final results are announced in February. |

February to April 2024 |
Pre-internship preparation: Successful students start working with their Canadian host professors to arrange pre-internship details while Mitacs oversees logistics and coordinates with university administrative offices. |
|
May to October 2024 |
Internship: Globalink research interns arrive in Canada and work with supervising professors for 12 weeks on their research project. |
