NTHU has recently signed Dual Doctoral Degree Agreement with Universiti Sains Malaysia. For more details on our partner universities, please refer to the List of Sister Universities and Dual Degree Program.

Program Outline:

1. Qualification: For NTHU, Candidates are required to have completed a relevant Master Degree or enroll through the direct admission to Doctoral program in NTHU. For USM, Candidates must have completed a recognized Master Degree by the Government of Malaysia.
2. Application:
3. Training: The Candidate has to study at least one graduate course at each Institution as part of the total number of graduate courses. The total number of credits should be detailed in ICA.
4. Credit Transfer: The Institutions will mutually recognize all the graduate courses studied by the
Candidate at both Institutions, upon approval by the corresponding faculty, department, or institute. The number of course credits that can be transferred between two Institutions should be detailed in the Individual Candidate Agreement.
5. Fees: The host university should waive the tuition fees of the candidates.
6. Diploma: Two separate degree certificates shall be awarded for the one-degree by the respective Institutions.
7. Duration of Studies:
(1) The maximum duration for a Candidate to study in this Dual Doctoral Degree Program
is five years.
(2) The Candidate must spend at least two semesters studying at each of the Institutions.
(3) To attain the degree conferred by NTHU, the Candidate is expected to register at least four
semesters at NTHU, complying with the University Act of Ministry of Education, Taiwan.
8. Thesis: Thesis should be written, presented, and defended in English language. The abstract should be presented in English.
9. Expiration date of the Agreement: 10. 2031
10. Others
(1). Individual Candidate Agreement must be signed once a Candidate is selected and accepted. ICA shall be negotiated by applicant, advisors, the department, and the representatives from NTHU and Chula. The ICA shall not be against this agreement.
