NTHU has recently signed Dual MA/PhD Program with Chulalongkorn University, Thailand. For more details on our partner universities, please refer to the List of Sister Universities and Dual Degree Program.

1. Qualification: Candidates are required to enroll through direct admission to the MA or Doctoral program in NTHU or Chula
- NTHU MA：ICMS, Institute of Computational and Modeling Science
- Chula MA：Department of Physics, Department of Mechanical Engineering: Master of Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Program: Master of Cyber-Physical System, Engineering Program - NTHU PhD：Department of Chemistry, Department of Physics, Department of Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management, Department of Power Mechanical Engineering, Department of Material Science Engineering
- Chula PhD：Department of Chemistry, Department of Physics, Department of Industrial Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering: Doctor of Philosophy in Mechanical Engineering

2. Application: The PhD student shall fulfill the admission criteria of both institutions and follow the formal admission procedures of both institutions. An Individual Candidate Agreement must be signed as a requirement of the application.

3. Training: Cotutelle Ph.D. Projects student who has already taken and passed courses and obtained credits in his/her home institution may apply for credit transfer.

4. Credit Transfer: The PhD student shall follow the regulations of both institutions regarding the suggested courses to be taken and credit transfer.

5. Fees: At the Host institution, a registration fee (for application) will be charged but the tuition fee is waived.

6. Diploma: Two separate degree certificates shall be awarded for the one degree by the respective partner institutions with their respective protocols/styles.

7. Duration of Studies:
(1) The maximum duration of the Dual Master’s Degree Program is four years. The maximum duration of the Dual Doctoral Degree Program is seven years. In special cases and upon the recommendation of the advisors, the Institutions, by mutual agreement, may increase or decrease the duration of the Doctoral Studies.
(2) Dual Master’s Degree Program: The Candidate whose Home Institution is Chula is expected to spend at least two semesters at Chula. And the Candidate whose Home Institution is NTHU is expected to spend at least two semesters at NTHU.
(3) Dual Doctoral Degree Program: The Candidate whose Home Institution is Chula is required to take classes and conduct research for at least two semesters at Chula. And the Candidate whose Home Institution is NTHU is expected to spend at least foursemesters at NTHU.
(4) Registration: The latest regulation of registration should be confirmed with representative contact at both Institutions.

8. Thesis: The doctoral thesis shall be written in English. The (public and private) defence of the doctoral thesis (irrespective of the location where this will take place) shall take place in English. At NTHU, the Candidate must submit his/her thesis proposal at least six weeks in advance of the thesis defense examination.

9. Expiration date of the Agreement: 11.2031

10. Others
(1). A student who has been accepted into the Dual Degree Program. Candidate is allowed to take only the courses that both Institutions have agreed to collaborate. It also means that students will not be able to cross over to enroll in other Departments/Colleges/
Faculties that are not stated in the Annex 1.
(2). The ICA shall be negotiated by applicant, advisors, Department/Institution, OGANTHU, and the representative from Chula. The ICA shall not be against the main agreement.
