Call for papers

National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) and Université Paris-Saclay (UPS) agree to futher develop and support co-operation between the two institutions in the area of double degree programmes by joint international supervision (“cotutelle”) of doctoral theses on double degrees. To promote the programmes, Office of Global Affairs will hold a Bilateral Virtual Symposium “Biomedical Smart Devices and Characterization Tools” in November, 2020. The symposium will include 7 topics. We look forward to receiving your submission and seeing you at “Biomedical Smart Devices and Characterization Tools”.
 
  • DateMonday to Friday, 16-20, November, 2020
  • Time:4:00 PM to 6:30 PM in Taiwan (depends on agenda)
  • Conference formats:
    • 3 to 4 professors present in each session. Each professor has 10 to 15 minutes. After the presentation, it would be the open discussion.
    • In response to the time zone, except for the Opening Session, we will hold 1 to 2 sessions each day.
  • Topics of interest include:
    • Physiological simulation tools such as commercially available multiphysics computation tools (e.g. COMSOL FEM tools) associated to 3D CAD accurate design of human body parts (limbs, torso, organs, ...) for enhanced physiological simulations dedicated to intra body energy harvesting, intra-body communications, tissue characterization with multimodal sensing, ...). FEM Software, CAD organ models, Signal processing software, computation stations...
    • Active and passive phantoms for advanced medical microdevice characterizations, including commercially available active phantoms of organs (heart, breast, lungs, etc…. ) and limbs (arms, hand, legs…) for implantable and/or wearable device characterizations. Multiphysic passive phantoms for multimodal sensing and imaging devices for tissue characterization. 
    • Body supports and movement measurement tools (wireless wearable set of movement and body support sensors including multi-IMU, 3D video, plantar pressure/force platforms.
    • Electrical engineering characterization tools (Data acquisition tools, arbitrary signal generators, oscilloscopes, physiological signal simulators (e.g. PROSIM8), wide range network analyzer.
    • Biological characterization tools (portable blood gas analyser, FACS, ...) for characterization of fluidic devices mimicking organs (artificial lung, artificial cancer spheroids, etc.)
    • Fabrication tools dedicated to advanced polymers and innovative phantom fabrication, including 3D additive fabrications tools for the development of news phantoms (phantoms with pathologies or specific physical/chemical/physiological features) mimicking in-vivo behavior and artificial on-a-chip microfluidic organs), and including physico-chemical characterization tools dedicated to the characterization of polymers used in bio-micro/nanotechnolgies.  
    • Multiphysics characterization platform for skin patch devices coupled to microfluidic systems for the development of wearable body fluid biosensor devices (including physical and chemical measurements means for enhanced device characterization, such as high precision microfluidic set-ups, high resolution microscopes, electrical/thermal/magnetic characterization, FTIR integrated to microscope, integrated UV spectroscopy.
  • Important Dates:
    • Before September 3rd: please kindly express your interest through email which includes: Willingness, Priority of the Topics and unavailable date (for example: have to teaching courses on Monday 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM). It will be really helpful to arrange the schedule.
    • 6 weeks before symposium: Request the authors for the title of presentation.
    • 4 weeks before symposium: Request the authors for the APPENDIX 1 contains basic information and abstract.
    • 1 week before symposium: deadline for registration of non-author participants.
      We will announce the final agenda with the registration link once confirm.
    • First day of the symposium: Opening Session
