Identity

Q1:How do I know if I qualify as an International Degree Student?

A1:Please refer to the following link for more information:

https://oga.site.nthu.edu.tw/p/412-1524-18674.php?Lang=zh-tw

Q2:If I qualify as both an Overseas Chinese and an International Student, does that mean I can only choose one method to apply?

A2:You can apply through both methods simultaneously. If you are admitted, you will need to choose one identity to enroll under. Once you enroll as an International Student, you must continue your studies in Taiwan under this identity.

Q3:If I have studied in a high school in Taiwan, can I apply as an International Student at NTHU?

A3:Please ensure that you qualify as an International Student according to Ministry of Education (MOE) Regulations Regarding International Students Undertaking Studies in Taiwan. Additionally, confirm that the high school you attended meets the criteria described in Point 8 of these regulations.

Application Methods

Q1:What is the difference between "Joint Admission" and "Departments with individual admissions"?

A1:The primary difference lies in the application process. For programs labeled as "Departments with individual admissions," you need to apply directly through the specific department. For those marked "Joint Admission," you must apply through the Office of Global Affairs.

Q2:What is the difference between "Spring Admission" and "Fall Admission"?

A2:Students admitted through the "Spring Admission" process will begin their studies in February. Those admitted through the "Fall Admission" process will start in September. It should be noted that there are fewer programs available for "Spring Admission" compared to "Fall Admission."

Q3:Can I apply for more than one program

A3:Yes, you can apply for up to 4 programs. However, if you are accepted into more than one program, you must choose only one to enroll in.

Q4:If I received my previous degree in China, am I eligible to apply?

A4:Yes, you are eligible to apply. However, for those applying to graduate schools, it's important that the university you graduated from is listed among the recognized list of universities and higher education institutions in Mainland China. After admission, you will also need to undergo the notarization process in accordance with the Regulations Regarding the Assessment and Recognition of Credentials from Mainland China.

Application Requirements

Q1:Do I need to send in hard copies of the applications to NTHU after completing the online application? Can I apply through email, fax, or personal delivery?

A1:Sending hard copies of applications to NTHU is NOT required. Please complete the application online. Note that NTHU only accepts applications through the Online Application System.

Q2:May I provide E-Sign on the documents?

A2:Yes, you may provide an E-Signature. However, please ensure that you do not copy your signature from other documents directly.

Q3:Are there any language restrictions on application documents?

A3:Application materials must be in Chinese or English. For example, if documents such as Diploma, Transcripts, and Financial Certificates are in a third language. Please use a formal translation agency to translate the documents. Attach both the translated version and the original version in the same file.

Q4:If I have not received my diploma by the application deadline, what should I do?

A4:If you are still completing your studies at the time of application, you can submit a statement (Enrollment Certificate) from your current school or university that clearly states your anticipated graduation date. After admission, you will need to provide the notarized diploma and transcript by the date specified in the application guidelines.

Recommendation Letter

Q1:How does the Online Recommendation System work

A1:After you fill out the recommender's information and name, the system will automatically send an email to your recommender. The recommender should open the link in the email to upload the recommendation or fill out the online recommendation before the deadline.

Q2:Does that mean sending paper recommendation letters is not necessary?

A2:Yes. Please DO NOT send paper recommendation letters to NTHU. Ensure your recommenders provide the recommendation letters online.

Q3:Can applicants upload recommendation letters?

A3:No. Recommendation letters must be provided to NTHU by the recommender directly. Please remind your recommender to complete the recommendation letter online before the deadline.

Q4:What if the recommender did not receive the notice from the Online Recommendation System?

A4:If the recommender did not receive the notification email, please ask them to check their spam mailbox first. Alternatively, you can log in to the Online Application System to resend the notice. If the issue persists, please contact us for further assistance.
