【Agreement】Newly extended 3+2 Program with University of California, San Diego, USA - ESS and MSE
NTHU has recently updated 3+2 Program with University of California, San Diego, USA. For more details on our partner universities, please refer to the List of Sister Universities and Dual Degree Program.
- Qualification: Only for the undergraduates from PME/MSE/ESS in NTHU only. [under negotiation: College of Life Science]
- Schedule:
- Deadline of NTHU: Applicants have to submit the documents to Departments before the deadline annually. The Departments forward the application to Office of Global Affairs and committe for examination. OGA will provide the recommendation list to UCSD in February.
- Deadline of UCSD: mid-February
- Training: The student must meet the requirements of the program of both institutions and annex B respectively. Please refer to the information by Specialization.
- Credit Transfer: If students need to transfer unused course credits to the MS degree, then 8 credits are the maximum.
- Fees:
- NTHU Tuition fees
- UCSD Registration fees
- UCSD service fees
- UCSD Year 1: Non-Resident Tuition: US$51,054
- UCSD Year 2: Non-Resident Tuition: US$34,147
- Other expenses: Housing, Books and supplies, Transportation, Meals and personal expenses, Course and/or lab fees (Note: some fees are projected/estimated)
- Diploma: Bachelor Degree in NTHU; UCSD Masters of Science.
- Duration of Studies: Undergraduates study in NTHU for 3 years. MA to UCSD for 2 years. Undergraduates apply for admission then study in UC B for another period.
- Thesis: Depends on the program and advisors.

- Students admitted to this program can be admitted to the master's program of the Department of Structural Engineering of the school without GRE.
- Required documents:
- Transcript, the school's average grade point average (GPA) over the past 3.25 (in 4 scale)
- Application motivation statement
- Two letters of recommendation in English
- Requirements for English language skills: TOEFL iBT 85, TOEFL paper-based score of 64 or IELTS 7.0 or above - The UCSD annual rate may be fine-tuned, please follow the latest announcement
- If seniors go to the school for physical classes, they should assist the department to apply for deferment; other students should evaluate the arrangements for military service at the master’s level by themselves.

-New Graduate Student: Up to $25,000 tuition/fee scholarship with Department match
-Continuing Graduate Student: Up to $20,000 tuition/fee scholarship with Department match
-Graduate Thesis Development: Up to $5,000 awards with Department match
