Discover the Hidden Stories of Liujia｜Local Walking Tour
Today, the Liujia and Zhubei areas are filled with high-rise buildings,
new communities, and a thriving technology industry. Yet just over two
decades ago, this landscape was very different—shaped by rice fields,
irrigation channels, traditional villages, and communities deeply
connected to the land.
With the arrival of the Taiwan High Speed Rail, the growth of the
technology industry, and a rapid population increase, Liujia and Zhubei
have undergone remarkable urban transformation in just a few decades.
The waterways that once irrigated rice fields, the villages where local
communities lived, the Bogong temples that have long
served as centers of local faith, and historic buildings that have been
preserved remain among the modern cityscape.
Hsinchu is now known worldwide for technology and innovation. As we look
toward Hsinchu's future, let's take a walk through the past that shaped
it.
On this walking tour, we will follow two local guides through the
streets and alleys between the old and the new. Starting with water, we
will explore the history of Liujia and discover how the landscape,
communities, and ways of life have changed over time.
Come discover a different side of Hsinchu—not only the city it has
become, but also the place it once was.
