Qualification

Required qualifications:

  1. Citizen of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and have household registration in Taiwan.
  1. Bachelor's degree or higher from a domestic public or private university registered in our country or from a foreign university recognized by the Ministry of Education
  2. Must meet the foreign language proficiency requirements specified in Article 2 of the Ministry of Education's Operational Guidelines for Certification of Chinese Language Teaching Proficiency(教育部對外華語教學能力認證作業要點).
  1. Experience in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language.

Preferred qualifications:

  1. Fluent in English.
  1. Own Adaptability and Flexibility
  2. Be familiar with Integrated Chinese and Oh!China.
 

Benefits

  1. Monthly living allowance of $1200 USD, based on the actual days of teaching at the local site.
  2. One round-trip economy class airfare ticket subsidy, for the most direct route(including transfer flight). This subsidy shall be actual expenses reimbursed and in no event will this be greater $1530 USD.
  3. Subsidy for teaching materials and equipment: $300 USD
 
 
 
 
 
 

Responsibilities

  1. Assist in conducting Mandarin classes for different levels, including one-on-one instruction and assignment grading. The weekly teaching hours will be adjusted based on the actual needs of the teaching institution.
  2. Organizing extracurricular and cultural activities related to Mandarin Chinese courses, as well as in developing teaching materials.(Huayu Best program related activities)
  1. Promoting NTHU Huayu Best program and TOCFL(Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language).
  2. Participate in Chinese language research projects.
  1. Handle other tasks related to the program.
 

Target Audience for Teaching

Undergraduate or above students of Host institution.

 

Application Process

  1. Applicants should submit the following materials:
  1. CV in both Chinese and English;
  2. Academic Certificates;
  3. Certificate of Chinese Language Teaching Proficiency from Ministry of Education, Taiwan(教育部對外華語教學能力證書)
  1. Short audio files including 3 minutes self introduction and 2 minutes newspaper reading paper in Chinese. The files can be share by Youtube links or drives links.
  1. Lesson Plan for a 50-Minute Session in the Integrated Chinese Level two part 1 and part 2(sample lesson can be found on Cheng & Tsui website)
  1. Other Supporting Documents to Demonstrate Chinese Teaching Abilities.

  1. After the initial review of the resume, further steps in this process include interviews and participation in pre-departure training.
 

Deadline

Rolling admission. Interviews will be conducted for qualified candidates. Those who do not meet the qualifications will not be notified.

 

Notes

  1. This case is carried out in accordance with the provisions of the '教育部補助選送華語教學人員赴國外學校任教要點' for subsidies and performance assessment. Hired teachers must undergo verification and sign an administrative contract with NTHU before sending
  2. The subsidy period for Mandarin teachers is generally one year. It may extend by the consensus between host institution and NTHU.
  3. The subsidy period cannot exceed four years
  4. Accepted candidates can not accept any other appointments as Chinese language teaching personnel. In the event of such circumstances, their acceptance for upcoming year will be revoked.
  5. Matters pertaining to rights and obligations not listed in this form should be clarified with NTHU  during the application process. The rights and obligations of both parties will be stipulated in the administrative contract.
  6. Current teachers in domestic elementary and secondary schools should obtain prior approval from their schools and educational authorities (Education Bureau or Office) and understand the relevant personnel regulations that may be involved during their overseas assignment. The period of teaching abroad cannot be counted as 'retirement service years
  7. Current teachers from domestic and foreign schools, please obtain prior approval from your institutions. Before the interview, you must provide proof of consent from the institution. Applicants who do not follow this procedure will not be accepted.
  8. Accepted candidates should arrange their passports and necessary documents for teaching country visas by themselves and bear the associated costs. Those who fail to obtain the required documentation and complete the aforementioned procedures before working period will forfeit their qualification.
  9. At the end of the term, please cooperate with the school to prepare handover reports and explanations for work and teaching, to facilitate the continuity of responsibilities for the next appointed teacher.
  10. Accepted candidates should attend Pre-departure training designated by the Ministry of Education(MOE) and submit teaching report to the '華語教學人才庫'(https://ogme.edu.tw/Sc) every six months during the teaching period. NTHU and MOE own the intellectual property of these reports. Accepted candidates should also collaborate in sharing experiences during Mandarin teaching-related activities organized by the Ministry of Education.
  11. In the event of uncontrollable factors (such as COVID), this announcement reserves the right to postpone, modify, or terminate the process
